Midas is recruiting for an experienced publicist to join our dynamic visual arts team as an Account Manager.
Midas prides itself on delivering a wide range of quality coverage for all of its clients and the successful candidate would need to have strong media contacts and be confident in delivering coverage on a weekly basis across multiple campaigns while also being confident selling press releases in over the phone as well as on email.
The role would be best suited to a people person who thrives on meeting and speaking to new people and would enjoy working and networking at the multiple launch events, gallery openings, award ceremonies, press calls and festivals that Midas organises throughout the year. By way of example, this year Midas is working with our clients at multiple international events including Venice Biennale, Glastonbury, Masterpiece, Hay Festival, Latitude Festival, Frieze, and Art X Lagos amongst others.
Midas is proud to have worked with some of the biggest names in the art world including national pavilions at the Venice Biennale, Saatchi Gallery, Jerwood Arts, Central St Martins, National Museum Australia, Artes Mundi, W1 Curates, Art X Lagos, Mayfair Art Weekend, The Box, Latitude Festival, Steidl, Prestel, as well as artists including Ai WeiWei, Pussy Riot, Grayson Perry, Bob & Roberta Smith, Anthony Gormley, Kehinde Wiley, John Akomfrah, Ragnar Kjartansson, David Bailey, Ellen Von Unwerth, Ai-Da Robot and many more.
At least 4 years’ experience working in visual arts PR who can hit the ground running, working individually on a range of campaigns as well as supporting senior members of the team on our flagship accounts.
As well as being a visual arts specialist, the successful candidate will also need to be open to working across a wide range of cultural accounts outside of visual arts, including festivals, prizes, cultural charities and book PR. Midas’ current clients range from Audible and Oxford University Press to Bradford Literary Festival and Sugar Studios, as well as high profile authors including Maggie O’Farrell, Lisa Taddeo and Amanda Owen.
Creative, enthusiastic and well-organised, the successful candidate will have experience of delivering outstanding client care, liaising with multiple-stakeholders, and working closely with key journalists. You will have demonstrated your ability to obtain high profile media coverage that helps drive both footfall, sales and brand awareness and to target publicity strategically towards an identified readership.
As a self-starter, you will thrive in a busy environment and enjoy developing innovative approaches to building client profiles and brands. You will also be an experienced communicator with strong media contacts. Experience working with arts organisations and high profile artists is a must. We need a responsible, enthusiastic person who is really committed to the job and will relish being part of a team and will be eager to learn from the team as well as suggesting ideas and initiatives to help our clients achieve their objectives.
The role is a full-time permanent position based at Midas, Pennine Place, 2a Charing Cross Road,
London WC2H 0HF, directly opposite the National Portrait Gallery and close to the National Gallery. You would be expected to work in the office a minimum of three days a week, with the rest of the day working from home.
