The show recently won “Best Children’s Programme (Pre-school)” at the Royal Television Society NW Awards in November 2019. Dubbed “Jools Holland for kids”, YolanDa’s Band Jam returns to the UK TV screens with a brand-new season that promises to be even bigger, even louder and even more danceable with twenty special guests including The Lightning Seeds, Maximo Park, Beverly Knight, Flamingods and many others. The second season follows on from the hugely successful first edition, with brilliant guests ranging from Bhangra dancers to Marimba players offering musical delights to be discovered by everyone from children to parents and even grandparents. Taking the series from the TV screen to the Live stage – the first ever YolanDa’s Band Jam live concert is announced as a part of Southbank Centre’s Imagine Festival taking place at the Royal Festival Hall on 21 February 2020.

YolanDa’s Band Jam sees YolanDa share her infectious passion for music with a live audience of 90 children ranging between ages 5-7 with plenty of join-in value both in the studio and at home with YolanDa’s house band the Bandjaminals. Season 2 of YolanDa’s Band Jam will comprise of 20 action packed episodes that are 15 minutes long. The episodes are filled with games, dance and singing. Season 2 episodes will feature new songs, firm favourites and twists on classics with the audience creating new music together with YolanDa and her special guests.

With the aim of encouraging children to discover the joys of music through dancing, singing and playing, YolanDa’s Band Jam will expand children’s knowledge about music and instruments, attune children’s understanding of different musical sounds and styles, and inspire them to discover the wonders of music making. In this coming season, the 5-7 year old studio audience will get an exclusive look into all aspects of music, ranging from radio presenting to song writing.

Some of the highlights for season 2 include learning how to host a radio show with BBC Radio 1 Breakfast DJ Greg James; song writing workshop with Feeder; discovering how to make music with special Mi Mu gesture control gloves with the Grammy winning musician Imogen Heap and exploring the science of soundwaves with the scientist Fran Scott. The action packed second season takes viewers on a journey around the world through music lessons on rare instruments stemming from the furthest corners of the world. If you want to master the Turkish Saz guitar, find out how to make music with special gloves or perhaps learn how to make music with spoons – YolanDa’s Band jam has got it all!

YolanDa Brown said: “The joy of music making and the feeling that music emits is one of the biggest gifts we have. To be able to share this with young children both in the studio and into their homes is just mind blowing. The lovely messages I am sent on my socials of children playing along to the show with their musical instruments, in living rooms around the country, is just amazing and makes YolanDa’s Band Jam such a joy to make.”
