Top That marks 20th anniversary with rebrand and launch of new fiction imprint

Leading independent children’s publisher, Top That Publishing has announced a rebrand to Imagine That. The move marks 20 years as a best-selling publisher of activity, novelty, picture books and the start of a new chapter fiction initiative.

David Henderson, who has led the family-run publishing business as Managing Director since 2009, has also announced the launch of a new fiction imprint, Willow Tree. This forms part of a new publishing strategy with three distinct imprints, to further develop the company’s catalogue of captivating books that promote child development, enrich relationships and foster creativity. Each imprint has a separate publishing focus, but a shared mission: to inspire children to read, learn, play and create.

The core Imagine That publishing takes children on a creative journey of reading and learning through novelty and activity books, including the award-winning Arty Mouse. The established Top That brand name is now dedicated to the company’s world-leading books plus portfolio. New fiction imprint Willow Tree will publish picture story books and chapter fiction from loved and trusted authors for children and parents to share together. The Willow Tree launch titles include Cat & Dog, Hattie Peck, Cuddle the Magic Kitten – Magical Friends, Muddle the Magic Puppy – Magic Carpet and Erin Hunter’s novel series Survivors.

Managing Director David Henderson has led the Suffolk based publisher since succeeding his father and company founder Barrie Henderson. Imagine That now sells over 11 million books and kits per year in over 70 countries around the world. With growth of 10% in 2016 and 15% in 2017, the publisher is set to record a third consecutive year of double digit growth in 2018.

David Henderson, MD at Imagine That Publishing, commented:

“We are extremely proud to have thrived as a family run, independent children’s publisher for the past 20 years.  We look forward to a dynamic future as Imagine That, with an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic team. As we evolve and develop with our new imprint strategy, including the hugely exciting Willow Tree Books, our mission to inspire children to read, learn, play and create remains at the heart of the company.”

Imagine That will present stands at Bologna Children’s Book Fair in March and The London Book Fair in April.
