The History Boys / Close Up Theatre
Performed by Oxbridge-bound young actors, the same age as the characters, this production of Alan Bennett’s The History Boys looks set to take Edinburgh by storm.
Runs from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th August 2010
10:30am at Greenside, Edinburgh (run time: 2hr 45 mins)
Another Edinburgh Festival brings with it an exciting new production of The History Boys from the acclaimed ‘Close Up Theatre.’
The production features performances from some of the UK’s hottest stars of tomorrow. William Merrick (Posner) is currently filming the next series of ‘Skins’ for Channel 4, and five of the cast are members of the National Youth Theatre, including leads James Evans (Scripps), Cameron Chapman (Rudge), and Merrick.
The 2010 cast of The History Boys share an array of staggering accomplishments. Several of the cast are, or have been, in the process of actually trying to get into Oxbridge, and James Evans (Scripps) will be studying Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Jesus College, Cambridge from October.
Close Up has now been performing at the Fringe for six years and has a well-established reputation, with loyal and appreciative audiences. They have been awarded the elite “Sell-Out” status every year.
William Merrick comments: “I’ve always loved performing, but Edinburgh has made me realise that this could be a possible career path. I would never have had the confidence to audition for ‘Skins’ had I not already had the experience of being a part of a semi-professional theatre company.”
The tickets for these six performances are priced at £7 (£5 concessions).
