Sir Stuart Rose joins Dressipi’s fashion forward team
Online fashion recommendation service Dressipi continues to take the world of clothing retail by storm with the announcement that former chairman of M&S, Sir Stuart Rose, will be joining the company as its Chairman.
Sir Stuart will join Dressipi, a start-up that blends fashion know-how with technological expertise, in a part-time advisory role, working with co-founders Sarah McVittie and Donna Kelly to drive adoption of their service among major high street and online retailers. His presence will add to the considerable level of fashion expertise already in the business. Dressipi’s team of in-house top stylists includes former Daily Mail fashion editor Natalie Theo, high-flying fashion stylists Tara Kavanagh-Dowsett and Nicki Black and journalist Gemma Soames.
His addition to the Dressipi team comes at a time when the company is fast attracting the attention of major clothing retailers, which are turning to its recommendation services to help them increase sell-through, conversion and basket value in their online operations. Dressipi’s fashion recommendation service is based on the principle that every woman has a Fashion Fingerprint – a combination of size, body shape and personal taste that defines her unique style. It combines the eye of a top stylist with the technological expertise required to select the best garments for each individual woman from the many millions available online.
Dressipi has already announced that catalogue and internet retailer Boden is using its recommendation service to drive value for online shoppers. More high street names will be added to the Dressipi roster in Q1 2013 as some of the UK’s biggest retailers implement the service as a key part of their multi-channel strategies.
Sir Stuart Rose commented: “I’m delighted to be able to advise Dressipi at such an exciting time for the business and a pivotal time for the fashion world. Retailers have been crying out for years for a solution that can help them merchandise and sell clothes more effectively online. Getting a woman to buy an outfit on the internet is about much more than showing them it’s available in their size. Before they click ‘buy’ they want to feel confident it will suit them and complement garments they already own.
“Giving online shoppers the confidence to make a purchase is the problem I think Dressipi have nailed with their recommendation service. I’m very much looking forward to working with Donna, Sarah and the rest of the team to help them bring the benefits of Dressipi to more retailers in 2013.”
Dressipi co-founders Sarah McVittie and Donna Kelly concluded: “We’re thrilled to welcome Sir Stuart on-board as our Chairman. He’ll be advising a management team that has been handpicked to combine the best of fashion expertise with formidable technical skills. We expect his insight into retailing at the highest level to be instrumental in helping us drive Dressipi forward next year.”
