SIBF Publishers Conference: Apply now

The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) Publishers Conference, formerly the SIBF Professional Programme, will take place in Sharjah UAE on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th October 2018. The conference will, as in past years, consist of seminars on the business of Arab and international publishing, the Matchmaking Programme and opportunities to apply for the SIBF Translation Grant.

In 2017, 400 publishing professionals from 50 countries participated, and a record 1611 Translation Grant applications were submitted (a 21% increase on 2016). The seminar programme included keynotes from Michiel Kolman (Elsevier), President of the International Publishers Association, and Mohammed Hasan Alwan, author and winner of the International prize for Arabic fiction 2017.

Amber Garza, Director, International Licensing at Sequential Rights (US) said:

“In two days in Sharjah, I made more connections than in a full week of meetings at other book fairs. This is a truly international event and the breadth of publishing sectors (academic, technical, business, educational, trade, comics, children’s) represented was very impressive”.

International publishing rights professionals who have a catalogue of translation rights to buy or sell, with an interest in doing business in the Arab market, can find out more about applying here.

The Sharjah International Book Fair opens on Wednesday 31 October 2018.
