Second Dance Proms opens for business
Dance teachers invited to enter their students for spectacular dance event at the Royal Albert Hall on November 4th 2012
Dance teachers all over the country are being encouraged to enter their students for Dance Proms 2012, the national celebration of dance. The second multi-genre dance spectacular will once again provide a platform to celebrate dance, dance students and dance teachers with the performance planned for November 4th 2012 at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
Dance Proms is designed to showcase the high standards of dance and dance teaching of the organisations and their members, and to raise standards and increase participation in and appreciation of dance in the UK. Online registration is now open for those wishing to take part in the event.
Last year’s event involved twenty-four acts which were selected from over 300 entries from all over around the country. More than 450 dance students performed ballet, ballroom, salsa, street dance, jive and jazz dance, alongside guest appearances by Marianela Nuñez and Thiago Soares, Principals of The Royal Ballet, and Strictly Come Dancing stars Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova.
Registration is open until May 27th 2012 for uploading video entries. A selection panel will view all entries and agree a short-list of dance pieces which will then be uploaded to the public area of the Dance Proms website to be put to a public vote from June 8th to 15th.
Details of how to register, advice and guidance on how to film a dance piece and the full terms and conditions are available at www.danceproms.co.uk
