Rosanna Ley shortlisted for 2015 RNA Awards

Best-selling author, Rosanna Ley, has been nominated for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s award for Epic Romantic Novel for her latest book, Return to Mandalay (published by Quercus).

The RNA’s Epic Romantic Novel Award is reserved for novels which ‘contains serious issues or themes, including gritty, multi-generational stories’.

This year saw a record number of entries submitted for these coveted prizes. Each book was read by a panel of three independent readers, aged from 18 to 85, drawn from a list of over 100 volunteers.

Of her nomination, Rosanna Ley said: “I was delighted to hear that Return to Mandalay is one of the shortlisted novels contending for the RNA’s Epic Romantic Novel of the year award. It’s exciting to be up against such greats as Barbara Erskine and Elizabeth Buchan, and if Return to Mandalay were to win and be in contention for Epic Romantic Novel of the year award, I would be utterly thrilled. This novel was challenging to write because the plot is based on my late father in law’s story – he lived in Burma and fought with the Chindits in the war against the Japanese – but this is also what makes it very special for me.”

The awards will take place on 16th March in London. A full list of the RNA shortlisted titles can be found here.

Rosanna’s next novel, The Saffron Trail, is due to be published 21st May.
