Pitch to an agent at the London Book Fair
Author HQ at this year’s London Book Fair from Tuesday, April 8 to Thursday, April 10 is a unique opportunity for authors – published and unpublished – to pitch directly to literary agents.
An exciting feature of Author HQ is the Write Stuff, a brand new contest to uncover the hottest new literary talent. Ten aspiring authors have two minutes to pitch their book to a panel of agents. The agent panel then takes up to five minutes to feed back on the author’s proposal, with each agent scoring the pitch out of ten. The proposal with the highest combined score wins a meeting with one of the agencies involved to discuss the book further and a written report on their manuscript.
The Write Stuff will be open to both fiction and non-fiction writers.
The Agent Judging Panel is made up of Simon Trewin – William Morris Agency, Charlie Campbell – Ed Victor, Lizzy Kremer – David Higham Associates and Laura Williams – Peters, Fraser and Dunlop.
If you are interested in pitching to the agents, send an email to[email protected] with 100 words about the book you will pitch to the Agent Panel and why you should be chosen by 5pm on Friday, 14 March 2014. Successful applicants will be informed by Friday, 21 March. No correspondence will be entered into.
The Write Stuff is part of the Author HQ event at the London Book Fair. Other events include bookable one-on-one meetings with leading agents and free workshops that cover topics from cover design, understanding publisher contracts, the do’s and don’ts of creating eBooks and social media for authors.
