Midas secures blanket PR coverage for Oscar A Life by Matthew Sturgis

Oscar A Life the latest book from esteemed biographer Matthew Sturgis and published by Head of Zeus on 4th October aka ‘Super Thursday’ has received blanket book reviews across the national newspapers with several full page reviews running in The Times, Sunday Times, Mail on Sunday and the Evening Standard.

The Mail on Sunday kicked off with a 5* review from Craig Brown who described Sturgis as ‘his great achievement is to take on board his great flurry of contradictions.’ The Sunday Times followed with However much you think you know Wilde, this book will absorb and entertain you. It thickens the texture of every aspect of his unique life — dazzling, decadent and doomed.” And the Evening Standard hailed it as ‘Simply the best modern biography of Wilde’. Further reviews were welcomed in The Observer which also carried an exclusive news story in August which was picked up by The Times, The Daily Mail and The Guardian.

In magazines, Literary Review by Jad Adams commented that ‘This book is authoritative and accurate, and Sturgis writes in a cheery, readable style” and The Spectator carries the review by Ian Thomson who describes the book as ‘an old-school biography that takes us smoothly from cradle to crematorium’.

Features also ran in the Lonely Planet’s November issue where Matthew recounted a replica Wildean trip across Greece that he’d done with friends last summer, The Rake  where he discussed the ‘Joys of Smoking‘ , Discover Britain and the Big Issue. And not to forget broadcast with interviews enjoyed on, amongst others, Sky News: Tonight and BBC Radio London.

Matthew also recently took part in a discussion on Wilde and celebrity at Cheltenham Literature Festival and will be appearing at Bridport Literature Festival later this year and Oxford Literature Festival in 2019.
