New book by Rio Ferdinand – Rio: My Decade as a Red, celebrates his Manchester United career
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand’s new book, Rio: My Decade as a Red will be published by Bonnier Books in hardback on 1 August, just prior to the start of his testimonial year at Old Trafford.
Rio: My Decade as a Red will be a visual celebration of Rio Ferdinand’s phenomenal football career, presenting his own comments and perspective on the key moments of his life both on and off the pitch. The book will contain over 300 images, covering aspects of Rio’s early career at West Ham and Leeds United, moving on to focus in more depth on his time at Manchester United, and his progress at international level. The book will cover the United days season by season, from Rio’s first Premier League title triumph of 2002-03, the Champions League campaign of 2007-08, up to his testimonial year in 2013-14 – including Rio’s spectacular 87th minute, match-winning goal in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last home game as Manchester United manager.
Rio: My Decade as a Red will also include the voices of significant people in Rio’s life, including players he has known and worked alongside throughout his career, as well as celebrity friends. The exclusive, interactive element of the book will enable these voices to come to life on a smartphone and tablet, in the form of specially-commissioned videos of players and celebrities talking about Rio and sharing their first-hand memories.
