Midas PR shortlisted for 2017 Annual Publisher Publicity Circle Awards

Midas PR are pleased to announce that our campaign for
The Red Ribbon by Lucy Adlington (published by Hot Key Books, September 2017) has been shortlisted for The YALC Award for Best YA Campaign at the 2017 Publisher Publicity Circle Annual Awards. The awards celebrate the best book specific campaigns carried out by publishing publicists in 2017.

The Red Ribbon tells the heart wrenching and real-life inspired story of seamstresses at Birkenau-Auschwitz who produced couture gowns for the wives and friends of Nazi leaders in order to survive. The book was based on survivors’ testimonies and Lucy’s expertise as a costume historian and knowledge of 1940s social history and fashion. This campaign aimed to publicise The Red Ribbon across print, broadcast and digital media and to present author Lucy Adlington as a knowledgeable, sensitive writer appealing to both YA and historical fiction readers.

This campaign was lead by Account Manager Eve Wersocki, and coverage secured during this campaign include interviews, written pieces and features in Daily Express, Telegraph, Saturday Express Magazine, TES, Yours magazine, Candis, Jewish Chronicle, The Lady, WI Life, The Big Issue, My Weekly, BBC History Extra, Female First, Culture Fly, Maximum Pop!. Lucy was also interviewed on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, BBC Radio London, BBC World Service and six BBC regional radio programmes. Extensive outreach with the online YA community lead to an eleven stop blog tour and thirteen further posts on YA blog sites and Instagram accounts. The Red Ribbon hit number 1 in the Amazon YA- Historical Fiction chart, with reprints scheduled by the publisher as a result of the publicity secured.

We’d like to extend huge congratulations to Eve and the wider team, Hot Key Books and all other shortlisted publicists for this year’s awards. Winners of the 2017 Awards will be announced on Monday 5th February.
