The shortlist includes books by authors and writers such as Stephen Fry, Tony Blair, Philippa Gregory, Jilly Cooper, Bill Bryson, Jamie Oliver and David  Walliams, chosen by book experts for their popular appeal, critical acclaim and commercial success.

The Galaxy National Book Awards App contains synopses and images of all the books nominated, author biographies and regular news updates.  Users will also be able to browse videos, photos and exclusive insights from the glittering award ceremony, which takes place on November 10th, and which will be broadcast on More4 on November 13th .  Each winner of a category at the Galaxy National Book Awards will become a finalist with the chance of winning the Galaxy Book of the Year, for which the public become the judges.

The public can vote for one of the eight finalists between November 13th and December 13th, when the winner will be announced.  Further information can be found on the Galaxy Facebook page and on the Galaxy National Book Awards website, where they can find details of how to cast their vote.

The App has been created by Midas Public Relations, specialists in publishing, the arts and lifestyle communications, who are handling the publicity for the awards.

Midas CEO Jacks Thomas says: “This App is designed to draw book lovers into the Galaxy National Book Awards by involving them directly in the awards process and encouraging them to vote for the Galaxy Book of the Year.  This public participation ensures that the Galaxy Book of the Year truly represents the people’s choice.”

The Galaxy National Book Awards are run and project managed by Agile Marketing (an independent marketing agency) on behalf of the publishing and bookselling industries.

The awards will be televised on More4 on Saturday 13th November, followed by a 5-part TV series celebrating the best of British writing talent, which will be shown on Sundays throughout November and December until voting closes. The App will also link to exclusive previews of the TV series.
