Launching on Saturday 12th June, Larkin25 is a commemoration of the life and work of ‘Britain’s favourite poet’, Philip Larkin, marking the 25th anniversary of his death.

Taking place over 25 weeks, from June – December 2010, the lively and diverse programme is inspired by Larkin’s life and work, and by his passionate love of poetry, music, photography and prose. Larkin25 presents a unique opportunity to take a first look at Larkin, or to take another look at the life and work of this brilliant and complex man.

Using Larkin’s artistic achievements as a catalyst, Larkin25 presents spectacular city centre celebrations, major public artworks and newly commissioned work, readings, lectures, and a high quality programme of performances and exhibitions.

Threaded through Larkin25 is an engaging series of activities, events and workshops, providing new opportunities to explore the arts, poetry and heritage, and find out more about one of Hull’s most significant literary figures.

Organisations across Hull and the East Riding have come together to create this exciting programme – the diversity of events, exhibitions and activities on offer reflects the versatility of Larkin’s talents, and celebrates the wealth of creativity alive in the area today.
