CrimeFest 2011 / Britain’s crime fiction convention
Midas PR is delighted to be sponsoring next year’s CrimeFest, Britain’s international crime fiction convention. CrimeFest is held annually at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, with next year’s festival taking place from 19th to 22nd May 2011.
CrimeFest is quickly becoming the most popular date in the crime fiction calendar. The convention appeals to die-hard crime fiction fans, and also the occasional crime novel reader. The relaxed format allows for readers and authors to socialise together over a weekend of panels, interviews and events. The festival also features crime writing and ‘Pitch-an-Agent’ workshops. The latter (think of it as speed-dating for an agent) is a unique opportunity for aspiring authors to skip the slush-pile and gain representation. Agents present at CrimeFest include Broo Doherty (Wade & Doherty Literary Agency), David Headley (DHH Literary Agency) and Camilla Wray (Darley Anderson Agency).
For the second year running, CrimeFest will also be hosting a reception for the Crime Writers’ Association’s announcement of shortlists for their prestigious Dagger Awards. Award categories include the eDunnit Award for best crime ebook of 2010, the Last Laugh Award for best humorous crime novel (sponsored by Goldsboro Books), and the Sounds of Crime Awards for best crime audiobooks, sponsored by Audible UK. Publishers are invited to make submissions for the awards at www.crimefest.com/submissions.
