CJ Daugherty and Carina Rozenfeld at South Ken Kids Festival

Bestselling authors CJ Daugherty and Carina Rozenfeld are due to make their first ever joint public appearance discussing their co-authored series The Secret Fire at the South Ken Kids Festival this Saturday. The Secret Fire was published in the UK this September and is the first bilingual project of its kind in the Young Adult genre; the book was originally written via email, each author writing a chapter in their native language. The story itself is about two teenagers, a boy in France and a girl in England, who become pen pals before discovering their families are linked by an ancient curse and that they are the only ones who can reverse it.

CJ Daugherty made her name with her internationally bestselling Night School series which has sold over half a million copies worldwide and was translated into 22 languages. This is her first fantasy novel. Carina Rozenfeld is a well-loved French fantasy novelist who is best known for her young adult series Phoenix and La symphonie des Abysses. The Secret Fire is Carina’s first novel to be translated into English.

Their event will take place from 12.30 – 1.15pm on Saturday 21st November. Tickets cost £5. Their event is in partnership with the Bookseller Young Adult Prize.
