Celebrate Social Media Week with The London Book Fair

The London Book Fair (LBF) is celebrating Social Media Week with an aptly named Tech Tuesday event, a technology-focused networking evening that will showcase the strength of social media in publishing, focusing in particular on the author’s point of view.

The event, headlined “Storytellers on Social Media: the author as a digital brand,” will take place on Tuesday 24 September at The Library, Hoxton Hotel, London. Social media savvy authors CJ Daugherty, Alison Norrington, Sarah Pinborough and James Smythe will take part in a lively and interactive debate on the marriage of books and social media – the connections to be made between communities and fandom. They will share lessons learnt and their successes with social media, as well as discussing how to deliver and market their work in new ways, on a variety of new and exciting devices. The event will be Chaired by Katie Sadler, Digital Marketing Manager, HarperCollins.

Jacks Thomas, Director, The London Book Fair, said: “The world of social media is an absolute jewel box for authors – not only to connect with their readers but also to find new readers. Technology and books have always been production friends — technology and authors becoming even greater allies must be beneficial. A celebration of Social Media Week and its connection with those at the heart of The London Book Fair – storytellers and publishers – is a pleasure to facilitate.”

Further Tech Tuesday events will be scheduled in the run up to LBF 2014, with talks and discussions from industry speakers who are active in the digital publishing arena. The first Tech Tuesday event has been scheduled to provide a platform to showcase the publishing industry to a Social Media Week audience.
