Britain’s Best B&Bs Announced at the AA B&B Awards

AA Hotel & Hospitality Services has announced the winners of this year’s prestigious AA B&B Awards at an event held at St. Ermin’s Hotel, Westminster.

The annual event, now in its 24th year, recognises the diversity and originality behind the nation’s most remarkable B&Bs and celebrates the people who dedicate their lives to running them.

Simon Numphud, Managing Director at AA Hotel & Hospitality Services said: “We are absolutely delighted to recognise all of our winners, and the passion and dedication they have for their businesses and their guests. The standards of hospitality and accommodation are truly excellent and we are particularly pleased to recognise the outstanding breakfasts through our new national awards.”

The winners of the 2019 AA B&B Awards are:

AA FRIENDLIEST B&B OF THE YEAR

Woodlands Farm – Thimbleby, North Yorkshire

Owners of Woodlands Farm, Paul and Amy Callin commented: “We are absolutely chuffed to bits to win this award, it means an awful lot to us.”

AA B&B STORY OF THE YEAR – sponsored by Eviivo

Wold View House B&B – Market Rasen, Lincolnshire

Owners of Wold View House B&B, Irene and Glyn Ward-Kendall commented: “I am delighted to have won the B&B 2019 Story Award. My journey has been long and hard (19 years in all), starting at the age of 52, with limited funds and many setbacks along the way, wish so much support from family and friends, without whom I would have lost everything in 2001 when foot and mouth restrictions hit me good and hard. I am just a small, cosy, friendly country B&B on top of the Lincolnshire Wolds with amazing views, providing all home-cooked and locally-sourced produce. I take dogs in and taxi people when needed, to parties, weddings, Rasen races, concerts at the racecourse and local pubs in Tealby. My most memorable experience was as a participant in Channel 4’s “Four in a Bed”. A great experience. Such fun which advertised my property all over the world. The AA Inpsector saved my life by encouraging me to pursue online booking and use of Eviivo. My occupancy soon rose to capacity. A big thank you to the AA.”

AA UNIQUE B&B OF THE YEAR

Brightham House – Salcombe, Devon

Owners of Brightham House, Scott Browning and Alistair Veness commented: “We are blown away to win, we can’t believe it. We are so overwhelmed, and very happy.”
