Baroness Martha Lane Fox announced as Infosecurity Europe Keynote Speaker
Infosecurity Europe, Europe’s no.1 information security event, is delighted to announce Baroness Martha Lane Fox CBE will deliver its opening keynote presentation on Wednesday 6 June at Olympia, London. This follows the recent announcement that Baroness Dido Harding, Chair of NHS Improvement and former CEO of TalkTalk and Robert Hannigan former Director of GCHQ will deliver opening keynotes on Tuesday 5 June and Thursday 7 June respectively.
As users share more and more personal information with digital platforms, from search engines like Google and social networks like Facebook, to retailers like Amazon, the privacy and cybersecurity landscape is becoming increasingly complex. In her opening keynote, Dystopia or Utopia? Privacy & Cybersecurity in the Digital Age, Baroness Lane Fox will draw on her experience over the last two decades in online business and her work with government to explore the privacy implications of our increasingly networked world and how they affect the work of the information security community.
Victoria Windsor, Content Manager, Infosecurity Europe, said: “Baroness Lane Fox has a phenomenal amount of experience in the digital world, having led and founded high-profile UK brand lastminute.com and from her role as the UK’s Digital Champion. Concerns about the use of personal data and privacy by some of the tech giants are constantly in the news, as highlighted most recently by the furore over alleged data harvesting by Cambridge Analytica and Facebook’s role in it. It will be fascinating to hear Baroness Lane Fox’s insights on this hot topic from her experience working across so many sectors.”
Baroness Lane Fox has been at the leading edge of online business, having co-founded and led lastminute.com, the revolutionary online travel shopping site. She was appointed the UK’s Digital Champion by Prime Minister David Cameron and is now an active crossbench peer. She is non-executive Director of Twitter, and is the co-founder and executive chair of Doteveryone, which aims to provide an ethical and social perspective on the internet. She is Chancellor of the Open University, and chair and co-founder of LuckyVoice. She still serves on the board of lastminute.com as well as of Marks & Spencer and Channel 4.
