2011 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature / Line-up announced

With 100 authors representing 26 nationalities across a broad spectrum of genres, the line-up of the 2011 Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is the most diverse and exciting yet.  Award-winning writers and world-renowned thinkers including Adonis, Margaret Atwood, Bernard Cornwell, and Michael Palin will gather together in Dubai from 8th – 12th March 2011 for the 3rd Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is the Middle East’s largest annual literature festival and is held under the patronage of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture).

‘The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature has quickly established itself as one of the major literature festivals in the world and I’m delighted we have once again attracted the highest calibre of authors and thinkers from across the region and beyond’, says Isobel Abulhoul, Festival Director, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. ‘In our third year, there will be big names discussing big issues and big ideas as well as numerous opportunities for book-lovers young and old to come face-to-face with both established authors, and up and coming writers.’

Heading up a world-class cast of English-language fiction writers is award-winning novelist and poet Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid’s Tale, Alias Grace and The Blind Assassin.

Other leading lights include Bernard Cornwell, bestselling author of the historical series, Sharpe; Marina Lewycka, author of A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian; China Mieville, fantasy writer and Hugo Award winner; Tony Parsons, author of Man and Boy, and Lionel Shriver, Orange Prize winning writer of We Need to Talk About Kevin.
