YolanDa Brown is an award-winning musician and broadcaster that has garnered praise for her delicious fusion of reggae, jazz and soul. Brown has toured with The Temptations, Diana Krall, Courtney Pine, Billy Ocean and collaborated with artists such as Mica Paris, Reggae Legend Bob Marley’s son Julian Marley and as part of Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.
The only person to have been nominated for and won two consecutive jazz MOBOs, Brown’s recent studio albums include April Showers and May Flowers and Love Politics War.
YolanDa is a celebrity ambassador for many charities including the Prince’s Trust, Children and the Arts, World Child Cancer and in January 2018 she was appointed Chair of Youth Music. Brown was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts by the University of East London and also invited to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
As well her work on YolanDa’s Band Jam, Brown has also appeared on numerous shows including Prom Live for BBC FOUR, and Gareth Malone’s panel show, All-Star Music Quiz on BBC TWO. She is also a regular co-presenter on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends with Clive Anderson.
YolanDa has recently launched the Drake Yolanda Award with philanthropist James Drake. The award is a brand-new music prize for emerging artists between ages 16-30.
