The Paul Foot Award
In order to raise awareness of the Paul Foot Award amongst the UK journalists eligible for entry, Midas devised a profile raising initiative that would target individual news publications as well as journalist associations and media industry institutions. Working closely with the co-sponsors, Private Eye and The Guardian, a rolling 8 month campaign was built around the submissions deadline, short list announcement and the eventual award ceremony and winner announcement.
Results: Midas’ campaign for the Paul Foot Award was featured in news industry publications including the Press Gazette, The Journalist and the British Journalism review, and it secured extensive digital media coverage from sites such as Hold The Front Page, Journalism.co.uk and NUJ.org. This coverage was instrumental in bringing about a year-on-year increase in the number of submission of over 100%. The award ceremony, which took place at the Spin Bar in Milbank Tower, was attended by over 100 guests including Ian Hislop, Harry Enfield, Richard Ingrams, John Kampfner and Alan Rusbridger and was covered by The Times, the Guardian and the Evening Standard.
