Making the Headlines: Painters’ Painters Exhibition at Saatchi Gallery

Following the huge success of its PR campaign for Champagne Life, the gallery’s first all-women exhibition held to mark the gallery’s 30th anniversary in January 2016, Midas PR was retained by Saatchi Gallery to run the PR campaign for their big winter show Painter’s Painters featuring the work of nine artists.  Midas PR was charged with securing high profile media coverage for the exhibition, including previews, listings, features, interviews, reviews and diary stories across digital, print and broadcast media.

Ahead of the exhibition opening, Midas organised a press view which was attended by 60 journalists. We organised for photographers from newswires and national newspapers to take photos of the exhibition which then ran in the press the next day. We invited art critics from the key newspapers to attend, with reviews running in print the week the exhibition opened. During the press view we set up interviews with the artists in art and lifestyle magazines. Midas also invited diarists and photographers to attend the private view in the evening, to run diary stories in the press the following day.  In addition, Midas reacted to the news of Castro’s death to secure coverage in the national press around one of the artworks which focused on the Bay of Pigs.

Midas ensured that reviewers from all the national newspapers attended the exhibition, which resulted in blanket review coverage in: The Daily Telegraph (front cover), Sunday Times, The Guardian, Mail on Sunday, Independent, Evening Standard. Interviews with the artists ran in arts publications including: The Artist, Artist and Illustrators, Elephant, State, Studio International, Artlyst, Wallpaper, Huffington Post, The Week, as well as broadcast media including BBC Radio 3, Euronews and London Live.
