Making the Headlines: Academic Book Week
The world’s first Academic Book Week took place in November 2015, celebrating the academic book and encouraging debate around what its future might look like. Events were hosted by universities, bookshops and libraries throughout the UK and internationally, including debates, panels and book launches.
Midas PR launched Academic Book Week to trade, consumer and national press, building excitement in the run up to and during the week and unveiling the results of a public vote to choose the most influential academic book of all time – with Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species taking the top spot. Media coverage was secured globally including in the UK, USA, China, Brazil and India.
Overall Midas PR secured over 150 pieces of press coverage of the inaugural Academic Book Week, including in The Guardian, CNN, The Washington Post, The Times, The Observer New Review, i, Yahoo News, The Hindustan Times, The Bookseller, Times Higher Education (THE), and Times Educational Supplement (TES).
