Blanket coverage for lauded fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth’s exhibition Ladyland

Midas was charged with delivering a successful national and international PR campaign promoting the retrospective exhibition of acclaimed fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth’s work, Ladyland at Opera Gallery.

The Work

Over the last three decades Ellen has become one of the most in-demand fashion and celebrity photographers in the world and launched the career of supermodel Claudia Schiffer in the 1990s.

We secured a wide range of national and international press and broadcast coverage: The Times ran a front cover and double page interview with Ellen in T2. This was in addition to coverage in national newspapers including a feature on the exhibition in Financial Times: How to Spend It previews in the Sunday Times, ES Magazine, Daily Telegraph and i newspaper. Picture stories appeared in The Times and The Daily Telegraph, and a diary story in the Evening Standard.

For broadcast, Ellen appeared on BBC 1: BBC Breakfast ahead of the exhibition. At the press view Ellen was interviewed by BBC Radio 4: Woman’s Hour, Sky News, Russia Today, BBC Radio London: Robert Elms and BBC World Service: Outlook.

Several online luxury magazines interviewed Ellen, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Press Association which was syndicated out to UK national press, Wired Italia, Dazed, The Pool, Deutsche Welle. Exhibition previews appeared in luxury lifestyle magazines online Tatler, Town & Country, Conde Nast Traveller and in print in Grazia, as well as a double-page interview in Stylist.

For arts press, Ellen was interviewed by Artribune. Elephant Magazine ran a review of the exhibition, and previews ran in BLOUIN Artinfo, Tmrw Magazine, HUNGER.

Features and previews on the exhibition ran on international press, Vogue Arabia, Vogue France, Elle Italia, Elle Croatia, Diario de Sevilla, Diaro de Centro America, Hirado, La Estrella and News4Europe.

The Results

At the end of the PR campaign, Ellen Von Unwerth told us she had never before had so much PR coverage for one of her exhibitions.
