Joseph Coelho, Waterstones Children’s Laureate 2022-2024 awarded OBE

Many congratulations to Joseph Coelho, Waterstones Children’s Laureate 2022-2024, who has become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) – awarded in the King’s Birthday Honours for his services to the arts, to children’s reading and to literature! The Waterstones Children’s Laureate is the foremost representative of children’s literature, awarded biannually to a renowned writer or illustrator in recognition of exceptional talent. The thirteenth Laureate – who will be appointed during the 25th anniversary year of the role – will be revealed on Tuesday 2 July. Watch this space…!



Indie Book Awards revealed

This week, during Independent Bookshop Week, independent bookshops have crowned their best books of the summer, announcing the winners of the Indie Book Awards. The announcement took place on Penny Smith’s show on Scala Radio, who is the official partner of the awards. The winners are:

  • Rebecca F. Kuang (Fiction)
  • Katherine Rundell (Non-Fiction)
  • Hiba Noor Khan (Children’s Fiction)
  • Robert Tregoning (author) and Pippa Curnick (illustrator) (Picture Book)



Your Little Matter published today

Foundry Editions publishes their first Italian title, Your Little Matter, an extraordinary memoir by Maria Grazia Calandrone translated by Antonella Lettieri. We celebrated the launch of the book at the Italian Cultural Institute in an event chaired by Rosie Goldsmith.



Bookshop.org Independent Bookshop Week Giveaways

Bookshop.org teamed up with @marcereads and @emilymiahreads to host a book voucher giveaway on their social media accounts in celebration of Independent Bookshop Week.

Sar Wylda and the Legendary Goldbreaker by Jake R. Wilson (published by New Frontier) was released last week, a thrilling first book in the Sar Wylda series about twelve-year-old girl Sar Wylda’s dream to become one of the greatest Dinobeast racers of all time. We were delighted to run a blog tour to celebrate the publication – thank you @jacquissydney21, @kate_g_heap, @erinlynhamilton, @booksuperhero2 and @kevc46.
