The end of July has marked the exciting launch of the authorised biography Typical Girls? The Story of The Slits, written by journalist Zoe Street Howe and published by Omnibus Press.

The book was launched at an lively launch party in Dick's Bar, Soho, attended by two members of The Slits - Viv Albertine and Tessa Pollitt. Also present were numerous respected music journalists, Don Letts, Vivienne Goldman and The Raincoats. Author Zoe Street Howe read from the book, taking everyone back to the era of Punk and raising more than a few appreciative laughs from the crowd.

The following week, The Slits' Tessa Pollitt and Viv Albertine joined Zoe Street Howe at FOPP Covent Garden and Rough Trade East to sign copies of the book. Both signings were a great success, with a high turnout - including some original die-hard fans, who brought along their vinyl of The Slits' first record and the second ever edition of the magazine Zig Zag.

The Slits are performing at Offset Festival in September and the new album Trapped Animal is released in September.
