Skope, "godfather" of Singaporean graffiti art, gives live demo in conjunction with Parallax Art Fair
17th February 2012
Whilst exhibiting his new ‘Skopaganda’ works at Parallax Art Fair, graffiti artist Skope is taking advantage of his time in Britain and doing a live demo. It is impossible for him to do so in his home country because graffiti in Singapore is classed as vandalism, punishable by up to three years in jail or a maximum fine of 2,000 Singapore dollars (£1000), plus three to eight strokes of a wooden cane.
Skope’s agent Tengku Iskandar Shah, will be explaining more about the difficulties Skope faces in his talk “The Struggle of Street & Graffiti Artists in Singapore” live at Parallax Art Fair on Saturday 18th February at 12.30pm.
Parallax Art Fair is the largest “curated” international artist art fair in Europe. The fair, which is conceived and curated by art historian Dr Chris Barlow, explores new theories in contemporary art. The exhibitors are mainly unrepresented artists from all over the world showing extremely diverse work from abstraction and conceptualism to totemic and ceramic art. It is free to attend and there are no commission charges on purchases made at the fair. Prices range from £50 to over £3,000.
Parallax is taking place at Chelsea Old Town Hall, King's Road, London, SW3 5EE from Thursday 16th - Saturday 18th February 2012.
