Christopher Landau the BBC World Services' Religious Affairs Correspondent interviewed Lord Richard Harries about his forthcoming title Faith in Politics? Rediscovering the Christian roots of our Political Values at Barnard's Inn Hall, Gresham College on Tuesday 16th March. Discussing his ideas from the book, Lord Harries spoke candidly about the decline of the public's trust in public institutions, the need for a moral environment in order for the state to thrive, the current climate of indifference to our political values and the importance of embracing out multi-faith landscape.

The central argument to Faith in Politics?, that every state is a product of its history and culture, and thus its religious past, was discussed in detail as Lord Harries took questions from the floor.  Lord Harries ended the discussion with the point that politicians lack a moral vision for society and that there needs to be a greater emphasis on Citizen Ethics and the search for the 'good' society.

Faith in Politics? Rediscovering the Christian roots of our Political Values is published by DLT.

On Tuesday 13 April, Lord Harries will be debating with Phillip Pullman on the dual nature of Jesus Christ at the Free Word Centre in Farringdon. For more information please visit www.englishpen.org
