Inspiration for ‘Under One Flag’, Cy Grant, dies aged 90

Cy Grant, who has died aged 90, was among the first set of RAF officers from the West Indies and qualified as a barrister, but such is the allure of television that he will be chiefly remembered as a singer, actor and broadcaster. He was also the inspiration for Under One Flag, Erica Myers-Davis’s account of how indigenous and ethnic peoples of the Commonwealth and British Empire helped Great Britain win World War II.
