Making the Headlines: Release by Patrick Ness
Midas PR recently ran a very successful campaign for the new novel Release by bestselling Young Adult author and screenwriter Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls, The Chaos Walking series). This novel is a raw, emotional and semi-autobiographical story of a young gay man growing up in a fundamentalist Christian family in the US, with a supernatural twist. The book was published by Walker Books and Midas PR was employed to deliver a highly targeted PR campaign focusing only on features and interviews with Patrick across print, broadcast and digital with limited author access.
Midas PR arranged an extensive broadcast interview schedule for Patrick with interviews taking place across BBC Breakfast, Channel 5 The Wright Stuff, Radio 2 Simon Mayo Drivetime, BBC Radio Scotland Janice Forsyth Show, BBC Radio 5 Afternoon Edition and Radio 4 The World This Weekend. Patrick will also be taking part in a Queer Season special with BBC Radio 4, Open Book which will run across Front Row, The Film Programme, Open Book and as part of a one off Queer Season radio special in July.
Midas also secured features and slot interviews with Patrick in high readership publications including a lead interview in the I newspaper and Inews.co.uk, and slot interviews in Fabulous, Sun on Sunday, The Week, Radio Times, Waitrose Weekend, Gay Times, Attitude, Teach Reading and Writing and Teach Secondary. Online interviews and slots were also secured on Reader’s Digest Online, Yahoo UK and Pink News. Collectively, this print and online coverage achieved a total potential reach of over 10 million readers.
Midas PR also supported Walker Books with regional PR and event listings support to promote Patrick’s regional book tour with radio interviews on BBC WM, BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio London and BBC Newcastle and event listings across The List, Whats-On-Guide, Maximum Pop!, Metro North West, Eventful and more.
