Making the Headlines: Landscape Photographer of the Year Award 2017
The prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year award was founded by Charlie Waite in 2006 with the aim of celebrating Britain’s eclectic landscapes and encouraging aspiring photographers to engage with the world around them. All shortlisted entries are published in an annual coffee table book published by the AA.
Midas PR was tasked with securing coverage for the Landscape Photographer of the Year Entry Period 2017, to drive entries to the competition and raise the general profile of the competition. Midas were instructed that publicity for this year’s anniversary edition of the book should not overshadow the awards PR campaign.
Midas PR placed a range of image galleries and photo stories from the 2016 competition as well as interviews with the award founder Charlie Waite, in areas of the media that had not yet covered the 10th anniversary book. Coverage contained links to the competition entry page on the Take a View website to increase traffic to the website and drive entries.
Midas generated photo stories, galleries and features across national and regional media, including The Times, The Sunday Times and the Daily Telegraph. Syndication on the Press Association also ensured that there was a broad reach across national and regional media. Travel, country, digital arts and photography media also covered the story with highlights including a double-page spread in Wanderlust magazine, features in Country and Townhouse, Country Life and Amateur Photographer, and a popular Instagram post from the Economist.
