Making the Headlines: Henley Festival

Midas PR was appointed by Henley Festival in 2015 to establish the festival as credible cultural arts festival through building awareness for its supporting programme of music, comedy, art and food as well as repositioning the UK’s most glamorous boutique festival to appeal to both a younger and a wider audience based outside of Henley-on-Thames. In 2016 performers at the festival included Elton John, Shirley Bassey, Bryn Terfel with Alma Deutscher, Al Murray, Nina Conti and Reginald D Hunter. In 2016 the festival quadrupled its comedy offering from the previous year and also increased its capacity from 25,000 to 35,000 over its five day run.

With a targeted PR strategy for each of the festival’s cultural strands across music, comedy, food and visual art as well as in key areas of lifestyle and family, Midas PR secured 972 pieces of coverage reaching a combined audience of 104 million during a ten month campaign. The festival sold out for two of its five nights and saw a 50% increase in ticket sales for the Family Sunday. Press coverage spanned national, broadcast, consumer and specialist press and included artist interviews, festival guides, event listings, reviews and diary stories.

Coverage highlights included: The One Show, Today Programme, BBC World Service, The Daily Telegraph front cover, Mail on Sunday full page review, Metro, Evening Standard, The Times and OK! Engaging with new and existing audiences, consumer lifestyle highlights included: Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, , Red, Time Out, Stylist, Now, Country Life, The Lady, Yours, Woman. Specialist music and festival press coverage included: Q Magazine, Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, eFestivals, and Jazz FM. Comedy coverage included: The Times, The Daily Telegraph, Chortle, This is Cabaret, Beyond A Joke, & Huffington Post. Coverage of the food elements of the Festival was secured in i Newspaper, Evening Standard, Waitrose Weekend, BBC Good Food and Square Meal among others. Coverage for the Family Sunday ran in Yours, Good Housekeeping, Primary Times, What to Do With Kids, and Junior.
