Making the Headlines: The House on Cold Hill by Peter James
Rather than being part of his Sunday Times no 1 bestselling Roy Grace detective series, ‘The House on Cold Hill’ by Peter James is a standalone ghost story set in an old Georgian manor house based on a house that he lived in many years ago, published in hardback by Pan Macmillan.
Midas PR ran a comprehensive campaign promoting both ‘The House on Cold Hill’ and the paperback of Peter’s Sunday Times no 1 bestseller ‘You Are Dead’ which was also due to be published this Autumn. We spoke to all the key national and regional press and broadcast for interviews, features and reviews, promoting the real life and ‘Halloween’ angle of the novel, and created a blog tour around ‘The House on Cold Hill’. Added to this Peter did several days of formal signings for supermarkets and bookshops and also events in his native Sussex.
There was widespread coverage throughout the nationals and on broadcast. One interview knocked on to create another. So Peter appeared in The Sunday Times – Home section speaking about his own haunted house from the past, which knocked onto an interview with The Daily Mail, and then The Mirror and Spirit and Destiny. Peter also appeared on BBC Radio 4 Saturday Live and did key regional radio as well as a blog tour. Alongside the features mentioned widespread review coverage ran including The Daily Mail, Metro, The Sunday Times, Sunday Mirror, The Sunday Express, PA News and Heat. The result was that it went into the bestseller chart at no 9 with ‘You Are Dead’ going in at no 1 in the paperback chart.
